As a prelude to March 8, the Department of Sociology at the University of Yaoundé I reaffirms its commitment to equality through a debate bringing together the Minister of Women’s Empowerment, the Attorney General at the Supreme Court, and the UN Women representative in Cameroon.
With International Women’s Rights Day approaching, celebrated every March 8 around the world, the Professional Master’s in Gender and Development of the Department of Sociology is launching the 6th edition of its special lecture series. Faithful to its mission of promoting gender and highlighting great female figures, the program opens its activities this Wednesday, March 4, with a high-level panel focused on sharing experiences and knowledge.
Organized at the University of Yaoundé I, the event brings together four leading figures, including three women holding strategic positions. Among them are the Minister of Women’s Empowerment and the Family, the Attorney General at the Supreme Court, as well as the UN Women Resident Representative in Cameroon. The Rector of the University of Yaoundé I completes this exceptional panel.
Through this initiative, the Professional Master’s in Gender and Development reaffirms its commitment to placing academic reflection at the heart of contemporary issues related to gender equality, governance, and social justice. This inaugural conference thus marks the beginning of a series of exchanges intended to nourish public debate, strengthen student capacities, and inspire a new generation of actors committed to equity.
In a context where International Women’s Rights Day invites us to measure progress made and persistent challenges, this 6th edition aims to be a space for constructive dialogue and concrete actions in favor of inclusive development.
