Cameroonian nationals residing in Near and Middle Eastern countries are experiencing stress related to the armed conflict between Israel and the United States against Iran, the escalation of which has been observed since February 28, 2026. In the quest for a haven of peace and security, Cameroonians can find shelter with Cameroonian institutions represented in the countries concerned. Furthermore, the Minister of External Relations informs them that the authorities of their countries of residence have taken preventive security measures which he calls on them to respect. These relate to alerts, shelters, travel, and all consequent temporary restrictions.

Minister Lejeune Mbella Mbella invites, to this end, members of the Cameroonian community residing in the countries affected by the conflict to “exercise restraint, calm, and the greatest vigilance, and to remain in regular and permanent contact with all diplomatic and consular representations of Cameroon in their place of residence.
From the early morning of Saturday, February 28, 2026, Israel and the United States carried out their threats by attacking Iran to prevent it from developing nuclear power. Tehran, the large city of Isfahan, the holy city of Qom both located in the center, the city of Karaj located west of Tehran, and the city of Kermanshah in the west were the targets of Israeli strikes. The Iranian response was directed towards American military bases located in many Gulf countries including the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain. Explosions followed over central Doha in Qatar. Riyadh in Saudi Arabia was also a target of Iranian missiles. The attack and the response triggered an avalanche of reactions worldwide condemning the violence and calling for de-escalation. The conflict increases insecurity and slows down business through the closure of airspaces as well as maritime trade routes.
