This is a significant step forward for decentralization in Cameroon. Gathered in Garoua on September 15, 2026, the Association of Regions of Cameroon (ARC) and the United Communes and Cities of Cameroon (CVUC) formalized their alliance.
The signing took place on the sidelines of the ARC General Assembly, held from September 14 to 16 in the regional capital of the North. A highly symbolic ceremony, held under the mentorship of the Minister of Decentralization and Local Development, present throughout the sessions, alongside several administrative and traditional authorities of the region.
This long-matured collaboration aims to strengthen synergy between the two levels of Decentralized Territorial Collectivities. The goal is clear: to promote a common representation of the CTDs at major national and international events, and to conduct coordinated advocacy actions when the stakes are shared.

Beyond the symbol, the partnership reflects a strong political will to pool forces, strengthen dialogue between communes and regions, and make the voice of territories more audible in relation to the central State.
In a context where decentralization is established as a pillar of local governance, this ARC-CVUC union appears as an essential lever to accelerate the effective transfer of skills and resources, and to sustainably advance local development in Cameroon.
