Representing Minister Madeleine Tchuinté, Prof. Rebecca Ebele Etame led the MINRESI delegation at the national symposium on the promotion of Cameroonian traditional medicine, opened on September 17, 2026, in Yaoundé I.

Traditional medicine at the heart of the Made in Cameroon policy. MINRESI left its mark on the National Symposium on the Promotion of Traditional Medicine, opened on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at Amphitheater 700 of the Faculty of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences of the University of Yaoundé I.

As the representative of the Minister of Scientific Research and Innovation, Dr. Madeleine Tchuinté, the Secretary General of MINRESI, Prof. Rebecca Ebele Etame, led the ministerial delegation. The ceremony was chaired by the Minister of State, Minister of Higher Education, Prof. Jacques Fame Ndongo, in the presence of the Minister for the Promotion of Women and the Family, Prof. Marie-Thérèse Abena Ondoa, researchers, academics, and traditional practitioners.



In her speech, Prof. Ebele Etame praised an initiative that offers “a privileged framework for reflection, exchange, and sharing of experiences on this important area of national life.” For her, “traditional medicine appears as an opportunity to strengthen Made in Cameroon and promote the emergence of a true national industry of health and wellness products.”

She recalled MINRESI’s doctrine: “to transform endogenous knowledge about medicinal plants into scientific knowledge, innovations, health solutions, and economic opportunities, respecting community rights and biodiversity conservation.” A mission carried out by the Institute of Medical Research and Studies of Medicinal Plants (IMPM).

After the inaugural lecture by Prof. Mpondo Mpondo Emmanuel, the workshops coordinated by Prof. Emmanuel Nga Nnanga began. MINRESI intervened in sub-theme 2 on industrialization, with a presentation by Prof. Joséphine Ngo Mbing entitled “From the valorization of endogenous knowledge to research and innovation.”
