The deputy and president of the Cameroonian Party for National Reconciliation questions the communication battle regarding the vacancy of the presidency of the Republic.
Two camps are clashing in a communication battle regarding the vacancy of the presidency of the Republic. The first tries to denounce an alleged vacancy of the presidency based solely on the duration of the president of the Republic’s stay abroad, which already exceeds 56 days. For this camp, the vacancy must be acknowledged. The second, reactive, tries to convince, with legal arguments supported by a series of communications and the publication of presidential decrees, that President Paul Biya is alive, that he is working, and that he will soon return. The government denies death announcements and the need to initiate the vacancy procedure.
Observer of the situation and the protagonists, the politician offers his interpretation of the situation. For him, “with the decrees appointing generals, this communication campaign has escalated.” Expressing some mistrust towards both camps, the nation’s deputy prefers to call for patience to see more clearly. “The coming days will deliver an unappealable verdict,” he says. In the coming days, public opinion will know if the vacancy announcements were false. And in that case, “we really need to be very careful with social networks which will have now crossed all limits of lying.” It will also know if the appointments of generals are made by “fake decrees.” And to this effect, their “authors will have crossed all limits of state criminality by using the Republic’s seals to temporarily disguise the vacancy,” warns the political leader.

However, as a deputy of the nation and holder of a mandate from the people, the elected official has the possibility to further enlighten Cameroonians who are hit by all winds without either side producing physical proof of their statements.
