The company China First Highway Engineering Co. (CFHEC) launched on Monday in Yaoundé, the Cameroonian capital, the Seagull Talent training program aimed at strengthening local expertise in the field of public works.
This ten-day training brings together 54 participants, namely 24 local project employees and 30 students from the National School of Public Works (ENSTP). The courses, jointly taught by Chinese experts and Cameroonian teachers, cover the theory of topography, the use of instruments and field practice, as well as modules on corporate culture and drone piloting.

The general manager of the international operations division of CFHEC, Yang Song, stated that this program aimed to improve the technical and intercultural skills of local employees, while supporting infrastructure development in Cameroon.
For his part, the Cameroonian Minister of Higher Education, Jacques Fame Ndongo, described this initiative as a direct transfer of skills and technologies, in line with the government’s goal of professionalizing education.
“Through a genuine transfer of skills and technology: you open your design offices and construction sites to our students, you participate in adapting our university programs to global standards, and you introduce the technologies and standards used on major Chinese projects,” said Mr. Ndongo.

“Our common goal is clear: to train a highly skilled national workforce, capable in the long term of designing and managing our future major infrastructure projects. That is true technical sovereignty,” he added.
This program is jointly certified by the Cameroonian Ministry of Higher Education, CFHEC, and the China Highway and Transportation Society. Present in Cameroon since 1992, the Chinese company CFHEC states that it has delivered nearly 132 infrastructure projects and trained more than 2,000 local professionals during this period.
