The Southern Regional Council and Electricity Development Corporation have initiated discussions to set up technical internships for students of vocational training institutions. The Memve’ele dam is targeted as the main host site.
As part of its policy of closer ties with development actors, the Southern Regional Council is strengthening its actions in favor of youth.
A delegation from the SRC, led by the Quaestor Mr. Ekoro Casimir and Mr. Assako, Deputy Director of Economic Affairs, held a working session on July 27, 2026 with the EDC Operations Directorate.
The purpose of the meeting was to formalize a partnership aimed at facilitating the professional integration of learners. This notably involves offering opportunities for advanced and pre-employment internships within EDC facilities.
The Memve’ele hydroelectric dam site has been identified as a preferred setting for these professional immersions. This nationally significant infrastructure constitutes a reference technical environment.

This initiative aims to align the theoretical training provided in technical institutions with field realities. It will enable young people to acquire practical skills, improve their employability, and meet the needs of the energy sector.
Through this collaboration, EDC reaffirms its role as a corporate citizen. The Southern Regional Council, for its part, consolidates its commitment to education, professionalization, and the development of human capital in the region.
