The Cameroonian army announced on Monday that it had killed two members of the Boko Haram group during an operation carried out in Tourou, in the Mokolo district, Mayo-Tsanaga department, in the Far North region, according to a security source.

According to this source, a group of fighters coming from Nigeria planned to carry out an incursion into this border locality. Alerted by farmers who reported their presence, the defense forces launched an operation in the area. Soldiers from the Rapid Intervention Battalion (BIR) set up an ambush before the attackers reached the locality.

The exchange of fire resulted in two deaths among the attackers. Several others were injured. This operation comes more than a week after the death of a member of the local vigilance committee, killed during an attack attributed to Boko Haram in this locality.
