At least four people were killed and several others injured during clashes related to a land dispute in the Far North region of Cameroon, local authorities said on Monday.

The violence broke out on Saturday afternoon between residents of the villages of Tchaboka and Abdjakoua, in the Logone-et-Chari department, following a land delimitation operation conducted by local authorities.
According to the mayor of Goulfey, Barka Mahamat, this operation assigned the disputed area to the village of Tchaboka. Residents of Abdjakoua contested this decision, which escalated into clashes with bladed weapons.
The sub-prefect of Goulfey, Léopold Ehadi, went to the scene to ease tensions and continue the steps taken to resolve the land dispute, according to local authorities.
