The Cameroonian government announced the deregistration of several ships that fraudulently used the national flag, according to a statement signed on Friday by the Minister of Transport, Jean Ernest Ngallé Bibéhé.
According to the statement, this decision is part of an operation to clean up the Cameroonian flag, firmly ordered by the Prime Minister, head of government. Investigations revealed that several ships were operating in violation of national regulations and international conventions, notably through the irregular use of the Cameroonian flag.
Furthermore, investigations highlighted the existence of several clandestine websites, based both in Cameroon and abroad, which fraudulently assign the Cameroonian flag to ships, outside any legal framework.

The statement specifies that the competent national and international authorities have been notified to implement the necessary measures against the ships concerned and the networks involved.
