Economically, the Yoyo-Yolanda agreement aims to maximize the profitability of shared fields through coordinated management of investments, infrastructure, and operations. This joint approach will reduce operating costs, increase oil revenues, and enhance the sector’s contribution to the public finances of both countries. Significant benefits are also expected in terms of job creation and skills transfer.
For Nguema Obiang Mangue, this agreement constitutes “a framework for technical and economic cooperation capable of transforming shared resources into levers for growth.” As Equatorial Guinea’s first joint exploitation experience of this kind, the project exemplifies pragmatic South-South cooperation, positioning Malabo and Yaoundé as major energy players in Central Africa.
