The Institute of International Relations of Cameroon officially closed, on May 18, 2026 in Yaoundé, the academic program “Law for Economic Development,” conducted with the support of the U.S. Department of State. An initiative praised for its contribution to training future specialists in economic law and international relations.

The Institute of International Relations of Cameroon (IRIC) closed, on Monday, May 18, 2026 in Yaoundé, an important chapter of academic cooperation with the closing ceremony of the “Law for Economic Development” program, deployed within the framework of the U.S. Department of State’s Fulbright Special Program.
The event, held in the panoramic room of the Institute, brought together American diplomatic officials, teachers from Golden Gate University of San Francisco, and members of the IRIC academic community. Presided over by the Director of the Institute, H.E. Daniel Urbain Ndongo, the ceremony highlighted the results of a project focused on strengthening skills in economic law, governance, and international dispute resolution.
In his general report, Claude Coumaye, coordinator of cooperation between IRIC and Golden Gate University, reviewed the main academic and cultural activities carried out during the program. The beneficiary students, through a representative of the Master’s in International Economic Law, expressed their gratitude to the Cameroonian and American partners.
The representative of the U.S. Embassy in Cameroon, Amanda Cauldwell, praised the program’s impact on student training. Nearly 80 certificates were awarded to participants during a session chaired by the Secretary General of IRIC, Dr. Neba Ridley Ngwa.
In closing the proceedings, Daniel Urbain Ndongo emphasized the diplomatic and academic significance of this partnership, a symbol of strengthening university ties between Cameroon and the United States.
