Through the participation of the Director General of ART at the International Regulators Symposium, Cameroon confirms its ambition to influence the major directions of global digital development, against the backdrop of challenges related to 5G, LEO satellites, and digital sovereignty.
The presence of the Director General of the Telecommunications Regulatory Agency (ART) at the International Regulators Symposium in Ankara, Turkey, reflects a major evolution in Cameroon’s digital governance. More than a ceremonial participation, this involvement illustrates Cameroon’s desire to actively contribute to defining the rules and standards that will govern the digital economy of tomorrow.
The work that began on May 13 will conclude on May 15, 2026, with the adoption of the Best Practice Guidelines, a reference document intended to guide public policies and regulatory mechanisms at the international level. Cameroon contributes to this, a sign of growing recognition of national expertise in a sector that has become strategic.
In an African context marked by the acceleration of 5G deployment, the emergence of low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites, and debates around digital sovereignty, ART intends to play a leading role. The institution thus expresses its willingness to defend balanced regulation, capable of stimulating innovation while protecting the interests of states and consumers.
Through this stance, the Cameroonian regulator confirms its ambition to support the continent’s digital transformation and to make digital technology a lever for inclusive development for the benefit of all Cameroonians.
