The Cameroonian member of parliament passed away on May 6, 2026, at the Yaoundé General Hospital due to illness.

The National Assembly of Cameroon lost another member this Wednesday morning. Deputy Théodore Alexandre Mbe Assae Mendomo has definitively laid down his parliamentary attributes. The illness he has been fighting for months has overcome him. He leaves, creating a void in the lower house of parliament, and especially at the head of the Commission on Economic Affairs, Programming, and Territorial Planning. He was the president of this commission.

A member of the Cameroonian People’s Democratic Rally, Alexandre Mbe Assae Mendomo was originally from Djoum in Dja and Lobo and represented the Cameroonian people in general and the populations of the communes of Djoum, Mintom, and Oveng in particular at the National Assembly. An influential politician in his locality, he was known for his closeness to the local populations.

His actions for their well-being targeted several areas including health. In May 2025, the deputy made a donation consisting of equipment and medicines to the Djoum Hospital Center. Passionate about communication, he is the promoter of Akoafem radio, a local media outlet that facilitates access to information in the rural world of his native area.

For the 22nd time during the 10th legislature, the National Assembly loses a deputy. The death of Alexandre Mbe Assae Mendomo comes about four days after the burial of deputy Claude Juimo Monthe Siewe, elected from the Haut Nkam constituency, who died on April 4, 2026, in Yaoundé, due to illness.
