
A delegation of the Chadian Armed Forces under the authority of Commander Djim Doum Ngar Radet arrived in Cameroon on May 17. It will take part in the parade marking the celebration of National Unity Day on Boulevard du 20 mai in Yaoundé on Wednesday.
A detachment of 110 personnel from the National and Nomadic Guard of Chad is participating in the parade of the 54th edition of National Unity Day on May 20, 2026, in the political capital of Cameroon. On a mission under the leadership of the parade mission chief, Lieutenant Colonel Issa Togoï, the detachment of parade participants includes a musical orchestra of 27 personnel, a Flag and its guard composed of seven personnel, a first section of 38 men from the Republican Guard, and a second section of 34 men from the Nomadic Guard. The team will perform a commando march during their passage on Boulevard du 20 mai on Wednesday in front of the President of the Republic of Cameroon, Paul Biya.

For the second time, the Republic of Cameroon, neighbor to the Republic of Chad, invites the Chadian army to take part in the parade on the occasion of the national holiday. The Chadian Defense Forces took part for the first time as guest of honor in the military parade marking National Unity Day in Cameroon on May 20, 2015. Eleven years later, they are again honored at the celebration of National Unity in Cameroon.

Cameroon and Chad, two neighboring countries, have faced common security challenges related to attacks by the Islamist sect Boko Haram in the Extreme North region of Cameroon and on Chadian territory. Both countries also participate in security missions in the Lake Chad area as well as in the Gulf of Guinea. The two states signed a bilateral defense partnership agreement in September 2025. The goal is to strengthen their joint efforts in intelligence and border security operations.
