Maurice Kamto launches a petition against the constitutional coup d'état in Cameroon

The politician invites his fellow citizens to sign this petition which aims to say no to the reforms initiated in Cameroon by the Yaoundé regime.

The national president of the Cameroon Renaissance Movement (MRC) is making a petition available to internet users against the reforms undertaken by the CPDM regime in Cameroon. The citizen petition entitled “No to the constitutional and institutional coup d’état in Cameroon perpetrated by the CPDM regime” invites Cameroonians to express three “NOs” in a single commitment.

“NO” to the constitutional revision establishing a presidential succession by mutual agreement through the creation of a post of Vice-President of the Republic with the right of succession in the event of a vacancy in the Presidency of the Republic, in violation of Article 64 of the Constitution.



“NO” to the successive extensions of the mandate of deputies, in violation of Article 15 paragraph 4 of the Constitution. And “NO” to the successive extensions of the mandate of municipal councillors on the basis of the electoral law in its provisions limiting the duration of the extension.

The operation is presented as a means of pressure to bring the regime to respect the Constitution and the sovereignty of the Cameroonian people. The petition is already collecting thousands of signatures, less than 15 minutes after its launch. One wonders whether, in the long run, the said petition will stop the ongoing procedures aimed at establishing the post of vice-president and extending the mandates of municipal councillors and deputies.
